Fine Art

Fine Art will allow pupils with a talent and interest in practical art skills such as painting, to develop and refine their skills in these areas.

The course is made up of 2 components, a portfolio worth 60% (up to 120 marks) and an externally set assignment worth 40% (up to 80 marks).

  • The set assignment has a preparatory study period and a 10-hour sustained period of work (practical ‘exam’).
  • The coursework structure means pupils will benefit from ongoing support throughout these components over the two-year course from teachers and regular external assessment. Possible areas that students will look into are Drawing, Installation, Lens and light-based media, Mixed media, Land Art, Printing, Painting and Sculpture.

Besides working for the practical side of Fine Art, there are so many more creative aspects!

There are many career paths you will be able to take if you decide to study fine arts, such as: animation, web design, interior design, illustrator, curator and art conservator.
